My Journey: Psychology, Purpose, and What Comes Next

From clinical practice to coaching, courses, and community—here’s how my work evolved and why it still matters.

For over twenty years as a clinical psychologist, I had the privilege of working with extraordinary humans as they pursued healing, growth, and wholeness. My approach was engaged, integrative, and personalized—grounded in research-backed methods and centered on authentic human connection.

My work shaped my understanding of what truly matters. I was honored to support survivors of sexual assault, individuals navigating chronic suicidality, members of the LGBTQIA+ community managing HIV/AIDS, and adults healing from childhood trauma—including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. In the last decade of my practice, I developed a specialization working with neurodiverse individuals.

Along the way, I created a different not disordered framework (now known as the A-Brain Model) to help those diagnosed with ADHD better understand and work with their systems. When I introduced it in the therapy room, I watched people come alive—not because I “treated” them, but because the model honored their wiring and offered a framework for thriving in a world not built with them in mind. Many described it as life-changing. I felt called to share it more widely.

As I moved beyond the medical model, I found kindred spirits in creative, entrepreneurial, and visionary communities—spaces where expansively wired minds often flourish. I knew it was time to bring this work beyond the consultation room—not just for those with a diagnosis, but for anyone whose very nature placed them outside the status quo.

In 2022, I closed my therapy practice to new clients. In 2024, I formally retired my license—a natural next step that allowed me to fully focus on digital course creation, large-scale coaching, and community-building.

I remain deeply grateful to everyone who trusted me with their story, their pain, and their transformation—and for all of the way-showers and fellow journeyers who walked alongside me. Your presence helped shape this path. Thank you.

And to those of you here now — I can't wait to show you what's next.

You see, the journey I’ve been on has been much more than a professional one—it has been deeply personal too. I’ve spent my entire life trying to ease the harm done at the hands of human cruelty. And after decades of helping others heal the damage, something in me shifted.

I no longer wanted to heal it.

I wanted to stop it.

In fact, trying to keep up with the pace of a world that seemed to be championing cruelty and abuse tactics as tools for power nearly took me out a few years ago. I discovered that while my passion still led, I lost myself in the work and unknowingly abandoned the other parts of me—parts that had been quietly waiting to be invited back in.

I never thought I would be here now.

But life has a way of getting our attention. And I can see now that every step of my life—every challenge, sorrow, struggle, fascination, and quiet longing—was guiding me here.

I won’t pretend to have all the answers. No one person does.  But I do know a thing or two about what matters for health and well-being from the path I’ve walked. I know something about brains, nervous systems, and the complex ways we become who we are. And I know the value of community—of connection that helps us move toward our fullness—because none of us can do this alone.

After making it through the dark period I now call “The Fall,” I’ve learned to silence the noise, tend to my nature, and listen to that deep internal call that lives inside each of us—the one calling us home to ourselves, even as it calls us forward to contribute our gifts.

I want to bring all of this to you—for you to use in whatever way serves you best. Take what speaks to you and leave the rest. There’s no single path. Every journey is unique.

But I can support you as you create space for your own voice, your own rhythm, your own needs. To help you tune out the noise and listen inward—to that knowing place that says you matter, even if the world has never known quite what to do with your complexity.

I know some things about minds, bodies, and spirits that might be helpful.  I know how to hold space for difference, and how to stay grounded in the wanderings that ultimately forge the next path.

We were never meant to be one-size-fits-all.

I believe our humanity is being called to evolve. That this upheaval and unraveling is making space for something new. And I believe you—along with all who share this vision of a world where all belong, where every gift contributes, and where cruelty has no place—are being invited to step into your own fullness.

I created COACH ROMO to be a container for this vision—a space where you can tend to what’s been buried beneath all the pressure and pace of modern life, and remember: you are not alone.

We are here—together, in our own quiet corners—building this world in real time.

COACH ROMO is a place to nurture your beautifully expansive nature, learn more about what makes you you, and move toward what truly matters—alongside others doing the same.

And together, we build a world where all belong, where every gift contributes, and where cruelty has no place.

I’m so glad you’re here.
